How To Submit Football Shirts To The Website
Update: This week, we are going to make big changes to the approval process of newly submitted football shirts. From now on, there will be multiple moderators to approve or reject new submissions based on the rules laid out in this article.
Therefore, it is both for the new moderators and users who want to upload new kits to the website detrimental to understand what to take care of to have a fast and hassle-free approval process.
First of all, thank you for using the website, and adding so many new kits and jackets every single day. The archive is becoming bigger and better because of your contributions, and we are only at this point because of you.
With this post, we want to clarify why some of your additions will not appear on the website. In the following passages we will explain every aspect in detail.
Common Mistakes
Bad Pictures
Two really bad pictures of the actual shirt, and the third picture does not show the right kit as it has the sponsor logo of the first team. This entry has to be rejected because it is not good enough.
This website is a database for football shirts first and foremost. Additionally, we do believe that a certain standard has to be met to provide an enjoyable user experience.
In this picture, it is not possible to view the kit properly at all. Even by cropping it you will not improve the viewing experience. That's why it has to be disapproved entirely.
Several really bad pictures for the website as the football shirt is not the focus
This is why it is of the utmost importance that your submission clearly shows the football shirt in question, and does not depict a plethora of persons celebrating a win for example. In this case, it will not be possible to easily identify the shirt, let alone assess its colors without zooming into the picture.
Here, it is possible to drastically improve the submission by cropping the picture and removing its background
That is why the most important rule is to crop pictures to put the focus on the football shirt itself. This will always be necessary in case it is not possible to easily make out the football shirt in the preview image of a new database entry.
Shirt is not visible in preview image, only the head of the player
Also, a submission can be of such a low quality that it does not make sense to crop the picture because the jersey will still not be easily viewable. In this case, it is best to simply reject the shirt based on the quality of its entry.
Your image does not show the kit properly. Do not use match day graphics from social media. Instead, go to the official website of the tournament and use the player profile pictures from media day.
Moderators are advised to either disapprove or crop the picture of a new submission in this case based on the quality of the pictures.
Low Image Resolution
Always make sure that the quality of your image is as sharp as possible. Pixelated images are avoidable most of the time, and it can happen that your submission gets disapproved because the picture quality is too low.
In this case, moderators can either improve the submission with a new picture or disapprove it because of a low resolution.
AI-generated images
Yes, AI is amazing, and it also helps the website by assessing design and colors of a football shirt automatically if no values are entered. However, it does make mistakes, and is by no means perfect, which we will also see later.
The problem with AI is that it always claims to be right even if it is clearly wrong. It will present information such as an image that it generated as a correct depiction of a football shirt even though the design is different. Do not use AI to recreate intricate football shirts because it will not be able to replicate the design 100% correct.
Watermarks
Since we are operating a database for football shirts, we believe that it is extremely important to be able to use the pictures on display for your own projects.
That is why we do not accept watermarks on football shirts unless they are leaks. As a moderator, it is extremly important that you disapprove football shirts with a watermark as it does not resonate with our philosophy of sharing reusable, high-quality images of the jerseys for everyone.
Football Shirts In The Database Added Again
Since the database already contains hundreds of thousands football shirts it is only logical that people will add shirts again because they did not do their due diligence.
In this case, it is the task of the moderator to check and find out that a submitted shirt is already on the website, and has to be disapproved.
Custom Sponsors
Recently, we added a new option to add a custom sponsor to a shirt. Please be aware that this text box is not the right place to submit the regular main sponsor of a team for a season.
Also, there are sometimes phrases on a football shirt which might look like a sponsor logo at first, but they are in fact not a sponsor logo. A good example for this is visible below.
PER is only an abbreviation of the team's name
Instead, use official channels of communication such as Discord, X or email to submit a full sponsor history. Only use this text box for one-off special sponsors which deviate from the regular main sponsor. The regular main sponsor appears prominently on the home shirt of that season.
Wrong Colors And Design
As we already mentioned earlier, we use AI to automatically define the design and colors of a jersey in case no values are entered.
Unfortunately, AI is prone to mistakes just like humans. There are several major mistakes it will keep making, and you can prevent them by simply entering colors and design yourself.
In the picture above, it is clearly visible that the body of the shirt is green, while the sleeves are predominantly white. This means that the design of the shirt belongs in the category 'contrasting sleeves'. AI wrongly entered 'graphic' as the design.
Here is another shortcoming on full display. This time, AI does not understand that there are two shades of the same color used for the stripes on the front. Therefore, it is important to add 'gray' as an accent color as well.
AI tends to overlook subtle colors which are only used sparcely such as in this case. Here, the color white is used on inconspicuous side panels. As a moderator, it is your task to include this color as an accent color. If a color is only used for supplier and sponsor logos it is not classified as an accent color.
In this case, the shirt features several design elements. AI correctly assessed that there is a subtle watermark graphic on the body of the shirt. However, the design always needs to be centered on the most prominent aspect of a jersey. In this case, the red sleeves are way more striking than the subtle graphic. A change was made accordingly.
Here, AI was able to analyze design and colors correctly, but it wrongly interpreted 'black' as the main color. It is clearly visible that the majority of the shirt is 'white'.
Another major issue of AI is the differentiation between yellow and gold. It will almost always happen that the color is interpreted as 'yellow'. Make sure to compare the colors on the picture and the entered values to avoid costly mistakes.
This case tends to happen a lot as well: Here, it is not easily understandable for AI which colors have to be assessed. This is why the wrong decision is made, and the design and colors of the kit in the foreground were described.
Shirt is clearly mainly greenish
If you are a moderator, always make sure to do your due diligence before approving a shirt. If you are not sure whether to approve or disapprove a jersey you can always ask us for help or simply not make any final decision.
Logos
Although it is not supposed to happen, it will happen from time to time that somebody uploads a logo as a football shirt because it is currently not possible to submit logos on the website directly.
In this case, do not do anything. An administrator will add the logo instead and disapprove the entry.
No Youth Teams From Youth Leagues
In order to draw the line somewhere, we decided to exclude any youth competitions from the website as they would contain mostly repetitve information without any added value but a lot of added workload.
This is why moderators are advised to simply disapprove shirts of youth teams from youth leagues. The only accepted youth teams are such that play in a league with senior teams as these squads are necessary to complete a season overview of the league.
No Replicas
We believe that the most important football shirt is always the premium, authentic version. Sometimes it is not possible to get high-quality pictures of the authentic version, but if both replica and authentic version are available it is always best to only add the authentic version, and potentially attach pictures of the replica version with a short explanation in the credits, too.
Foreign Languages
This submission just needs a little change as the type is classified as 'ENTRENAMIENTO'. This website is operated in English, and therefore all text must be in English. The correct type is 'Training' in this case.
It is also not right to write a shirt description in a foreign language for example.
Wrong Data
Sometimes, information regarding the kit such as league, brand or team name are wrong.
In order to fix these mistakes, moderators have to pay close attention and regard the warning signs visible next to the information. Here are some examples of mistakes like this.
wrong team name
wrong team name again
wrong league
wrong league (Serie C is Italian, club is from Brazil)
existing kit has wrong league
Wrong team name
Wrong brand
Brand name misspelled
Wrong release date
wrong sponsor as it is not possible to do no sponsor currently for one kit only
Wrong brand
Duplicate entries
It can happen from time to time that several people upload a new football shirt for a big team. Simply search for the team's name and you will see all submissions in one list. Then, pick out one entry, and reject all other shirts.
Regular on-field kits
Match kits are shirts that were or will be worn in an official match. Please do not add lifestyle items to this segment.
Lifestyle items are jerseys that were not intended to be worn on the pitch. If a football shirt was not worn on the pitch, it will not be approved.
Sometimes, images are too blurry or it is not possible to fully view the front of the shirt on your pictures. If visibility is a problem, we will not approve said shirt.
Pre-Match / Training & Travel
These categories concern a different type of football team equipment worn by either the players or the coaching staff.
Again, we do not want to include lifestyle releases on the website.
Investigating whether an item was really worn by the team takes time, and this is also why the queue will be congested at times, but your entries will be looked at, and approved as soon as possible.
If you want to speed up the approval process of your additions, make sure to include pictures of the players or coaching staff wearing the item in question.
Currently, the framework of the website does not make it possible for you to add trivia for teams, brands and leagues like club badges, old names, sponsor histories, logo histories or team descriptions and much more.

This post will be updated in the future in the light of new developments, and pinned to the admin control panel to clear up any confusion.
