To honor Danish war veterans, Vejle Boldklub, in collaboration with Vejle Municipality, is participating in the nationwi...de campaign organized by DIF Soldiers' Project from the Danish Sports Confederation. This will take place at Vejle Stadium during Sunday's 3F Superliga match against Randers FC, which is marked as a tribute match.
Starting from Flag Day on September 5th, the top Danish football, ice hockey, and handball leagues have joined forces to focus on Denmark's military veterans.
Veteran Match 2023 is being held across the country throughout September to applaud, recognize, and support those who have risked their lives to fight for Denmark in global hotspots.
This recognition is marked through so-called tribute matches, where veterans are honored and acknowledged in sports arenas during league matches in football, handball, and ice hockey.
Together with Vejle Municipality, Vejle Boldklub is participating in the initiative and dedicating their home match against Randers FC in the 8th round of the 3F Superliga on September 17th at 14:00 to honor Danish war veterans. Many Danish veterans have returned from tough missions in war zones with physical and emotional scars, while others never came home. What they all have in common is that they risked their lives for a greater cause. This deserves recognition.
For the tribute match against Randers FC, Vejle Boldklub will raise money by selling the jerseys worn by the team on Sunday. These match-worn jerseys will feature the Veteran Match logo and will be auctioned off via MatchWornShirt afterwards. All proceeds from the sale will go directly to association activities under the Danish Sports Confederation's Soldiers' Project, which works to provide sports opportunities for injured veterans in local communities.
The Veteran Match initiative is supported by DIF Soldiers' Project, all football clubs from 3F Superliga and NordicBet LIGA, the entire Metal Liga (ice hockey), almost all clubs from HerreLigaen (handball), and several municipalities across the country.
