The match between the Real Sporting and SD Eibar on Sunday, November 16, 2025 (El Molinón, 4:15 p.m.) is the main event ...of the tribute for the 120th anniversary of the Cocina Económica, a key social organization in Gijón that shares its founding year with Real Sporting.
The collaboration, officially presented five days before the match at the headquarters of the Cocina Económica, will see Real Sporting display the 120th-anniversary logo of the social dining hall on the shirts worn during the Matchday 14 fixture of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Siroko, Real Sporting’s main sponsor, is giving up its space on the kit to take part in this initiative.
David Guerra, the Club’s Executive President, and Ignacio Blanco, president of the Cocina Económica, presented the various actions that make up the program dedicated to honoring and recognizing the work of the Gijón-based organization.
Ignacio Blanco highlighted the excitement felt by the social entity “that both of us turn 120 years old at the same time.” “The collaboration between the two organizations goes back decades; we have records at least since the 1960s. It began with the rental of seat cushions, and over time volunteer initiatives have been added, as well as free visibility on digital boards, tickets for our users…”.
For his part, David Guerra stressed that “the Cocina Económica is one of Gijón’s great sources of pride, and we feel fortunate to have this collaboration between both institutions, because Gijón cannot be understood without either of them.” The Executive President listed the activities that will take place on match day and surprised the Cocina Económica representatives by announcing that, in addition, the players will wear the shirt featuring the organization’s 120th-anniversary logo. “We are thrilled about this and we also thank Siroko for their willingness to make it possible,” he concluded.
November 16, 2025, will be a day full of activities and collaboration with the Gijón Charity Association. From 12:00 p.m. onward, those attending the match at El Molinón and the general public will be able to learn in detail about the organization’s services by visiting the information stand that will be set up on the esplanade next to the statue of Manolo Preciado. They can also contribute inside the stadium by renting the cushions managed by the organization, some of which will have special prizes hidden inside.
Before kickoff, as the players take the field, eleven volunteers and members of the Cocina Económica de Gijón will accompany the red-and-white team as recognition for their selfless help and dedication to people in vulnerable situations. Rafael Piñera, director of the Cocina Económica, will perform the ceremonial kickoff.
In addition, the special shirts worn by the players can be obtained through a charity auction on the MatchWornShirt platform. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Cocina Económica de Gijón.
In this way, Real Sporting and its Foundation express their gratitude for the essential work carried out by the Cocina Económica de Gijón for the benefit of the city over these 120 years, inviting all Sporting supporters to learn about and support its activities.
