FC Barcelona wears blue and garnet ever since 1899 although the club and kit supplier Nike started to experiment more during the second half of the 2010s. Allegedly, Barça wears these colours because club founder Joan Gamper wanted his new team to have the same colours as the club he founded in his home country Switzerland, FC Basel. Barcelona's most controversial jersey of all time is the FC Barcelona 1966-67 away kit, which resembles the look of arch rivals Real Madrid with a clean white base. On the other hand, the club's most common away jersey combines a yellow base with blue and garnet as a homage to Catalonia and the Senyera flag.
