Black FC Barcelona Kits
Black first appeared for a FC Barcelona kit in 2011, and has since then become one of the favorite alternate colors of fans, appearing regularly in the early 2010s and leaving a strong impression among fans. While never part of the club’s traditional palette, black kits allowed Barcelona to project a sleek, contemporary identity away from the classic blaugrana.
The 2011-12 away kit is the first of Barcelona's journey into black, with a very simple approach. It was carried over for the 2012-13 season as third kit.
Popular with fans, Nike released a new black Barcelona kit just one season later for the 2013–14 season. While it featured a little more yellow, it was otherwise very similar to the previous black kit. We doubt that we would see such a similar approach these days, with teams always trying to change more to get more sales.
Black then kept absent for seven years, until the 2021-22 away kit. Combined with gold, the Barca 21-22 away shirt was the catalyst for a trend of black & gold soccer jerseys in the coming years.
For the 2024-2025 season, black returned for Barcelona, but this time mixed with the blaugrana identity. A blackout design with gradient logos combined the stealth trend with personal touch, resulting in another highly rated shirt.
For the upcoming 2026-27 season, Barcelona will get a partly black kit, as part of the Black Mamba cooperation. The Barca 26-26 away kit merges the black with purple in gradient design, creating another look featuring black that is sure to be popular.
