Asociația Clubul Sportiv Petrolul 52, commonly known as Petrolul Ploiești, is a Romanian professional football club based in Ploiești. Founded in 1924 as Juventus București, the team relocated to Ploi...ești in 1952 and became closely tied to the city’s oil industry, earning nicknames such as Găzarii (The Gasmen) and Lupii Galbeni (The Yellow Wolves). The club’s traditional colors are yellow and blue.
Petrolul has enjoyed notable domestic success over the decades, winning multiple Liga I titles and Romanian Cups, with historic victories in European competitions including a famous win over Liverpool in 1966. Despite financial struggles and bankruptcy in 2016, the club was reestablished by supporters under its current legal name and returned to Liga I in 2022. They play their home matches at the Ilie Oană Stadium.
