Perhaps this is the coolest story of Mato Grosso's journey in the Série A. As we know, one of the greatest names in Cruz...eiro's history was Tostão, a World Cup champion in 1970 whose career was cut short by injuries in 1973. Two years after the original retired, Luís Antônio Fernandes, then at Santos, began his football career using the nickname of his idol, Tostão.
Years passed, and in 1980, he joined Mixto. Two seasons later, Tostão scored three goals against… Cruzeiro, when Tigre defeated Raposa 4-2. The story gets even better—after that, "Tostão II" signed with Cruzeiro and became one of the club’s standout players in the 1980s.
