When Lyngby Boldklub takes the field on Sunday, the match is dedicated to veterans and their families. Once again this y...ear, Lyngby Boldklub and Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality are part of the Danish Sports Confederation's Veteran Match.
Following Flag Day on September 5th, the Danish Sports Confederation, with support from the Grundfos Foundation, brings together the top of Danish sports to recognize veterans and their families.
Across the country, from September 13-23, they are invited for free to football matches in the 3F Superliga and NordicBet Liga, handball in the Men's League, and ice hockey in the Metal League.
One of the 44 matches in total is Lyngby Boldklub's game against AGF. It will be more than just a match for three points. It will be an afternoon where sports communities extend their arms in recognition of those who have made a difference.
For the Veteran Match, players will wear specially designed jerseys, which can be bid on during and after the match via MatchWornShirt.com. You can find the auction here, and it goes online around kickoff time.
The money from the jersey sales goes to safe sports communities for veterans and police officers with physical and mental injuries - so-called Safe Zones, developed by the DIF Soldier Project.
