The first international friendly match was held in Brasília on May 5, 1963.
The Defelê team leaders took advantage of the Pan American Games being held in São Paulo and invited the Chilean amateur team to a friendly match.
The match took place one day after the end of the football competition at the Games.
It was held at the Vasco Viana de Andrade Stadium, with Eduíno Edmundo Lima as the referee, assisted by Idélcio Gomes de Almeida and José Francisco de Souza. The final score was Defelê 2 x 1 Chilean Amateur Team. The first half ended 1 x 0 in favor of Defelê, with a goal by Alaor Capella. In the second half, Alaor extended the lead to 2 x 0 and D’Ávila scored the Chilean goal.
Defelê's lineup was Gonçalinho, Zé Paulo, Euclides, Alonso Capela and Wilson; Matarazzo and Reinaldo; Invasão (Bawani), Alaor Capela, Vitinho (Manuelzinho) and Leônidas.
The Chilean amateur team played with Cifuentes (Montecinos), Silva, Peña, Angulo (Holtz) and Monterojas; Esquival (Bustamante) and Juan Torres; Barrera (Valencia), Pedro Gonzalez, Araneda and Lavin (D’Ávila).
Reinaldo and Ângulo were sent off in the 2nd half. This same team represented Chile at the Pan American Games in São Paulo, winning the bronze medal, behind Brazil and Argentina, who won gold and silver, respectively. They tied with Argentina, beat Uruguay and the United States and lost only to Brazil, 3 x 0, on April 30, 1963.
