Göztepe was founded in İzmir on June 14, 1925. The club competes in the Turkish Süper Lig. Göztepe has a glorious history in Turkish football. In the 1969-70 season, they also reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup. The club won the Turkish Football Championship in 1950, the Turkish Cup in 1969 and 1970, and the Turkish Super Cup in 1970. Among the club's greatest legends are Adnan Süvari, Gürsel Aksel, Fevzi Zemzem, Ali Artuner, Nevzat Güzelırmak, and Halil Kiraz. The club plays its home matches at the Gürsel Aksel Stadium, which has a capacity of 23,376. Göztepe's home kit traditionally features yellow and red colors, and is either striped or a quarter design similar to their club crest.
